Here are some spot illustrations drawn over the last few months for children's publications:

These were drawn for the excellent Nickelodeon Magazine -- always a fun magazine to work for. They were fake games designs for a feature on Christmas-related board games -- as in "what if famous games were customized for the holidays?"

This mummy was also drawn for Nickelodeon, but for their Halloween issue. I think it was even turned into a sticker - cool!

These two were character designs for a children's book project that I was originally supposed to work on, but had to back out of due to some scheduling conflicts. They were also fun to draw, so I thought I'd share them here.

Wow - these are amazing! I love the board games. It also fun to see your stuff in full color. Great job.
haha Those are great, Michael.
That seems like such a fun job to do. I think it must be such a free-ing thing working on children's illos cause you can do stuff that are not necessarily burdened by all the baggage adults have. Kids are so creative and they come up with some wacky things so it's really cool to work on something that taps into that vein.
Anyways, I'm kind of rambling but, again, great job!
Jeremy: thanks, Jeremy! Glad you liked the board games -- they were a blast to do. I forget sometimes that I usually only post 2-colour work on this blog, so most people don't see my full colour illustration work. Glad you stopped by again.
RLS: thanks, buddy! I agree with you about kids work being really freeing -- that's definitely the appeal of working on stuff like this. I also do illustrations for business magazines and such, and the difference is night and day -- Guys in suits vs. Gorillas in tutus, you know?
I think I'm in love with your mummy! How could any kid be afraid of the undead with such a cute creature like yours with his knobby little knees and all his pink bandaids! : )
Glad you liked it, Frannie. But don't be fooled -- we must never EVER let down our guard around the undead -- no matter how cute they look. They're just WAITING for an opening to bite into our jugular and eat our brains...
Fun bunch 'o pieces.
Thanks, Dominic -- glad you liked 'em. They were definitely fun to do.
Why waste your time doing anything for children?
Ungrateful weasels, all of them.
See that? I am not always so deadly serious all the time.
I am also sometimes a joker!
Then again, a master of syntax is something I most definintely will never be any time late or soon.
that mummy rocks the dead!
Steve: you need a hug, huh? Suck it up, boy -- the Raptors made the playoffs. You should be in happy land!
Drazen: thanks, Drazen--if anyone can speak on behalf of the undead, its you!
all top quality and delicious! you're very talented, my boy.
The more I look at your stuff, the more blown away I am. Great design, great drawings, great inking, great color. Really, really slick. Very inspiring.
